Italy will endure more intense heat
thanks to Anticyclone Nero until Sunday when there will be a
"thermal collapse", bringing thunderstorms and hailstorms
starting from the north due to a cyclone from the British Isles,
forecaster Antonio Sanò, founder of the site www.iLMeteo,it,
said Wednesday.
He said the hail would be as big as the huge stones seen in the
last wave of hailstorms last month.
But before then Nero will bring muggy 'afa' to Italy, with
temperatures hitting records in the north and centre and staying
a bit lower in the south.
Florence will see 40°C, Grosseto 39°C; Ferrana, Rome, Naples and
Viterbo 38°C; Aosta, Bolzano, Milan, Turino and Verona 37°C and
Bergamo, Bologna, Foggia and Padua 36°C; while the south will
have slightly lower highs.
The intense daytime heat will be followed by tropical nights
with temps hovering around 22-23°C, said Sanò.
Some 17 cities are on red heat alert Wednesday and will stay
that way until Sunday.
This means even the young, fit and healthy are told to stay out
of the sun between 10 and six.
