Barbie, the Greta Gerwig blockbuster starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, notched the highest weekend debut earnings of any film in Italy this year with 7.7 million euros over four days, beating Fast X with 6.3 million and Super Mario Bros - The Movie with 5.7 million, sector gauge Cinetel said Monday.
The pink-hued irony-full movie, which has garnered critical acclaim, racked up the third highest debut success since the start of the pandemic after Avatar:The Way of Water with 8.4 million euros and Spider-Man: No Way Home with 8.3 million.
Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning - Part One was second to Barbie.
