The 62-year-old German truck driver
who ran over and killed former cycling champion Davide Rebellin
on 30 November in Montebello Vicentino near Vicenza has been
released from prison.
Wolfgang Rieke had been arrested last Thursday on charges of
vehicular homicide and hit-and-run on a European warrant issued
by the Vicenza Public Prosecutor's Office.
According to leaks, the German judge has suspended the
provisional arrest pending a final decision on the man's
extradition.
The truck driver, who was released from the prison in Munster
(Germany) in the afternoon, was given a kind of weekly signature
obligation.
Rebellin, 51, was one of Italy's top riders in the 1990s.
