AS Roma legend Francesco Totti beat
Italian tennis rising star Jannik Sinner in an amateur padel
exhibition match at the Foro Italico, on the sidelines of the
Italian Tennis Open, on Monday.
"It's a game that keeps you fit, that makes you enjoy getting up
in the morning," said 2006 World Cup winner Totti, 46, who
retired in 2017 after setting Roma appearance and goal scoring
records.
"It's the first time I've played padel, and I think you could
tell," said Alto Adige born star Sinner, 21, who is into the
last 16 of the Roma tennis championship.
Thousands of fans watched the match, in which Sinner only played
three games and in which the Roma great and the tennis player
were accompanied by established and more recent padel stars.
Youngsters chanted Totti's name and nicknames including Er
Pupone, singing "there's only one captain" and Roma, Roma,
Roma".
