Italy's Davide Bais (Eolo Kometa) won
the seventh stage of the Giro d'Italia Friday, the first big
mountain leg featuring a climb across Italy's biggest mountain
the Gran Sasso, a 218km run from Capua near Naples to Campo
Imperatore, while Norway's Andreas Leknessund (DSM) kept the
leader's pink jersey.
Czech Karel Vacek (Corratec) came second and Italian Simone
Petilli (Intermarché Circus Wanty) third.
The three staged a breakaway that lasted for almost all the
stage.
