The Italian Soccer Federation (FIGC)
prosecutor has charged AS Roma coach José Mourinho for allegedly
damaging the reputation of referee Daniele Chiffi with a
stinging attack on Wednesday after his side's 1-1 draw at Monza
in Serie A, sources said on Thursday.
Roma have also been charged for indirectly being responsible,
the sources said after the prosecutor did a whirlwind probe into
the case.
Mourinho said Chiffi was "the worst referee I have ever
encountered in my life.
"(He is) technically horrible, zero empathy, zero communication,
zero sensitivity," he added after the match, which left his side
in seventh place in Serie A.
The coach was especially irked by Chiffi's decision to give a
second yellow card to Roma defender Zeki Celik deep into
stoppage time.
