Former health ministers Roberto
Speranza, Beatrice Lorenzin and Giulia Grillo were placed under
investigation Wednesday in a probe into the alleged mishandling
of the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic in Bergamo in early
2020 for an alleged failure to update the government's pandemic
plan, judicial sources said.
The sources said relevant parts of the acts of the
maxi-investigation of the Bergamo Public Prosecutor's Office on
Covid have been forwarded to the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office
for territorial jurisdiction.
According to information, the acts concern the failure to update
the pandemic plan and see the former health ministers Speranza,
Lorenzin, Grillo and a number of Ministry technicians under
investigation in Bergamo.
The Rome Prosecutor's Office will now examine the positions and
decide whether to proceed with a new registration at Piazzale
Clodio, their HQ, as well.
