Italian police on Tuesday arrested a
Filipino man in connection with the murder of a 50-year-old
Filipino man who was stabbed to death in a Rome street Sunday
evening.
The 43-year-old turned himself in at a Carabinieri station along
with his underage son, who s also under investigation in the
case, on Monday evening, judicial sources said.
The man was then taken to a police station where he was
arrested.
The man was detained in connection with the murder of Michael
Lee Pon, the 50-year-old Filipino man in Rome on Sunday evening
near the Valle Aurelia metro station.
He is reported to be a compatriot.
The arrest was ordered by the Public Prosecutor's Office, which
is coordinating the investigation entrusted to the Flying Squad.
The murder came as a result of a fight among Filipino nationals,
in which the man pulled out a knife, police said.
