Italian Premier Mario Draghi on Friday expressed shock following the news that former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe was dead after being shot.
"Premier Mario Draghi expresses the government's and his own
personal deepest condolences for the death of Shinzo Abe," read
a statement released by the premier's office.
"Italy is shocked at this terrible attack, which hits Japan and
its free democratic debate.
"Abe was a great figure of Japanese and international politics
of recent decades thanks to is innovative spirit and his vision
of reform.
"Italy embraces his loved ones, the Japanese government and the
whole Japanese population".
