Italian astronaut Samantha 'AstroSam'
Cristoforetti said Tuesday she was united with her Russian
colleagues on the International Space Station (ISS) by a common
love for space.
"Space, life on board, together with love for family and
friends, that's what unites the American, European and Russian
astronauts now onboard the International Space Station," she
said.
Cristoforetti was speaking on a videolink with US colleague
Jessica Watkins.
There are no splits on the ISS over the Ukraine war,
Cristoforetti said Friday.
"Up here there are no divisions: for the whole crew it is
important to preserve the bridges built so far, and the
collaborations," 'AstroSam' told US media.
Her NASA colleague Watkins said "we realise what is
happening on Earth but here we are friends and we continue to
work together".
The ISS's current crew consists of four NASA astronauts, two
Russian cosmonauts, and an astronaut from the European Space
Agency (ESA), Cristoforetti.
