- ROME, MAR 16 - Italian President Sergio Mattarella on
Wednesday laid a wreath in Rome's Via Fani to mark the 44th
anniversary of the kidnapping of former premier Aldo Moro and
the murder of five members of his security detail by Red
Brigades (BR) terrorists, the presidential Quirinale palace said
in a statement.
Moro, a senior member of the once-dominant Christian
Democratic (DC) party, was kidnapped in Via Fani.
He was later killed by the leftwing terror group after 55
days in captivity.
The slain members of his detail were: Raffele Iozzino, Oreste
Leonardi, Domenico Ricci, Giulio Rivera and Francesco Zizzi.
