Interior Minister Matteo Salvini
said Thursday holding the Italian SuperCup final between
Juventus and AC Milan in the Saudi Arabian Red Sea port city of
Jeddah on January 16 was "disgusting" because of the Saudi
record on denying women's rights.
"That the SuperCup be played in an Islamic country where
women can't go to the stadium unless they are accompanied by men
is sad, it's disgusting," he said.
"I won't watch that match," said Salvini, a Milan superfan.
"Where are the Italian feminists, the Boldrinis?" he asked,
referring to former House Speaker Laura Boldrini.
In response, Lega Calcio President Gaetano Micciché said
Saudi woman will be allowed to attend the final on their own in
a "historic" first.
