Those who in opposition cried
'coup' over the allegedly excessive use of confidence votes are
doing the same in government over the budget, Free and Equal
(LeU) Senator and former upper house Speaker Pietro Grasso told
an ANSA Forum Thursday.
"As Senate Speaker I protested against the excessive
confidence votes, in defence of parliament," he said.
"But I see that those who cried coup are doing the same
today.
"Today we have a budget we don't know".
Grasso also told the forum that the opposition would like to
know where the money to fund the budget's basic income and
pension reform was coming from.
"We'd like to know where they're getting the money, are they
cutting services to give someone a hand-out?
"Is this the politics we wanted? These are tragic questions".
Grasso went onto say that he "welcomed a Left that regrets"
having voted for the anti-establishment 5-Star Movement (M5S),
one of the two government partners along with the anti-migrant
Euroskeptic League party.
He said he would also welcome dialogue with the M5S if there
was a "possibility" of that achieving results.
