The lawyer of centre-left Milan
mayor Giuseppe Sala, who suspended himself last week after
learning he was under investigation regarding his former role as
commissioner of Milan Expo 2015, met briefly with prosecutors on
Monday for clarification.
Salvatore Scuto described the 10-minute talks as "serene and
fruitful".
The lawyer did not say whether Sala would be questioned.
"We will be able to satisfy your curiosity over the next few
days," Scuto said.
The mayor is among several people under investigation in the
so-called 'Piastra dei Servizi' probe into alleged corruption in
the bid process for the contract to create the 'pavement' on
which the Expo pavilions were built.
Sala is reportedly being probed for material and ideological
falsehood.
On Thursday he announced that he would suspend himself from
the position of mayor until the charges against him had been
clarified.
