The next Milan Men's Fashion Week running January 13-17 is filled with new creative directors and designer debuts, the National Chamber of Italian Fashion said Wednesday.
The event will be "strong, innovative and international" according to chamber chief, Carlo Capasa.
There are 37 runway shows on the programme - two more than in last year's edition - with debut shows from seven designers: Billionaire, Cédric Charlier, Federico Curradi, Malibu 1992, Palm Angels, Plein Sport, and Wood Wood.
Established names in men's fashion are also gracing the agenda. These include Antonio Marras, Ermenegildo Zegna, Frankie Morello, Moschino, and N.21.
Alessandro Sartori, the new creative director of Ermenegildo Zegna, will hold his first runway show for the label on the evening of January 13.
Other debuts include Francesco Risso with his first Marni show, Guillaume Meilland at the helm of Ferragamo, and Lee Wood at Bikkembergs.
Some designers, like Moschino's Jeremy Scott, are including Milan Men's Fashion Week coming off an already full schedule of showings elsewhere.
Germany's Philipp Plein will be back in Milan with his Plein Sport collection and the Billionaire label.
Some of the runway shows will feature both men and women, including Marcelo Burlon, Cédric Charlier, Damir Doma, and Dsquared2.
Two big names are missing from the line-up - Bottega Veneta and Gucci. They will stage runway shows featuring both men and women in February during Milan Women's Fashion Week.
Giorgio Armani will host three international brands: Consistence from China and Taiwan, Moto Guo from Malaysia, and Yoshio Kubo of Japan. The three will close out the week with back-to-back runway shows on January 17, with the Giorgio Armani show to follow. Armani said Milan is experiencing a time of "great aesthetic and cultural ferment, of which fashion is an active part".
"That's why I decided to broaden my initiative in favor of the most talented designers, to create a unique and stimulating day in the programme," he said.
