Junior Economy Minister
Enrico Zanetti said Thursday that the a measure to take away
fines and interest in tax-dispute cases will on average halve
the amount owed by the taxpayers involved. The measure features
in a tax decree linked to the government's 2017 budget and is
part of the scrapping of the widely despised Equitalia tax-debt
collection agency. Zanetti told parliament that the tax-debt
collection system had been "more ferocious than efficient for
too many years".
