Italian director Giuseppe Piccioni's film Questi Giorni (These Days) received six minutes of applause after its public screening at the 73rd Venice Film Festival on Thursday evening.
The film, which features Margarita Buy, Sergio Rubini and Filippo Timi and is scheduled for release in Italian cinemas on September 15, had a lukewarm reception following its press screening earlier in the day.
Piccion's tenth movie, focusing on the life-changing choices of a group of Italian university students in small-town Italy, is the third Italian film in competition at the festival.
The others are: Piuma, or feather, by Italian-British director and writer Roan Johnson, a teen pregnancy story starring Luigi Fedele and Blu Yoshimi; and Spira Mirabilis, a documentary by husband-and-wife duo Massimo D'Anolfi and Martina Parenti on the theme of immortality, filmed in different parts of the world.
