Ambitious carbon reduction plans to be officially announced on Monday by the Barack Obama administration have made their way into the United States presidential campaign.
Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton on Sunday said she was a staunch supporter of President Obama's plan to impose stricter limits on emissions from power plants, attacking Republican opponents for not offering a credible alternative.
''It's a good plan and, as president, I'd defend it'', she assured.
A Republican presidential candidate, Senator Marco Rubio, slammed the plan as ''catastrophic'', saying it would contribute to increase electricity bills, while former Florida Governor Jeb Bush said it was ''irresponsible''.
Obama is expected to announce on Monday that he is finalizing proposed regulations to cut greenhouse gas emissions from US power plants, reportedly imposing sharper cuts and expected.
