Spain's Alberto Contador extended
his Giro d'Italia lead on Tuesday, showing off his climbing
skills on the 174-kilometer stage 16 of the race from Pinzolo to
Aprica.
Astana's Mikel Landa claimed his second consecutive stage
win and moved above his struggling Italian teammate Fabio Aru in
the general classification to take second place.
Contador, a two-time Tour de France winner and the 2008
Giro champion, came third in Tuesday's stage, 38 seconds behind
Landa.
Aru crossed the line seventh, two minutes 51 seconds
behind his teammate.
Contador is four minutes, two seconds ahead of Landa in
the general classification and 4'52" in front of Aru.
