In a society dominated by
digital technology with appointment calendars just a smartphone
swipe away, paper day planners continue to enjoy perennial
success in Italy, where many don't want to forego the
reliability of an old-fashioned, hand-written reminder.
Moleskine, an Italian company based in Milan, produces some
of the most popular day planners for those with a minimalist and
classic bent.
In 2015, Moleskine will donate 5% of the proceeds from its
(Product)Red special edition planner to AIDS research.
The company, which produces notebooks styled after those
historically used by iconic writers Oscar Wilde and Ernest
Hemingway, will also offer limited edition planner editions
printed with Peanuts, Mickey Mouse, The Little Prince, and Star
Wars themes.
Italian company Smemoranda, a favorite with students, in
2015 will offer a variety of 12 colors of planners with a
"mantra" which translates from the Italian into "Live, Love,
Laugh!"
Slow Food will offer aspiring chefs in the New Year a handy
place to jot down new recipes or shopping lists, while Lonely
Planet aims at the traveler, with a planner that includes an
expandable document holder.
Montblanc planners, exclusively in leather, target a higher
price point and include pocket-size planners as well as
full-size zippered organizers.
