The Italian Film Week, now in its eleventh edition, kicked off in Buenos Aires today to great public acclaim and growing interest, including from the local media.
A welcome cocktail and the world premiere for Argentina and Latin America of director Ferzan Ozpetek's latest celebrated work, 'Diamanti', opened the festival in the Cinépolis Recoleta theatre.
Present at the premiere was the Turkish author himself, who made himself available for questions from the audience at the end of the screening, which ended with an ovation from the hall.
Before the screening, the Italian ambassador in Buenos Aires, Fabrizio Lucentini, welcomed the authors present, in addition to Ozpetek, also the young director Margherita Vicario, who is presenting her first work, 'Gloria!', in Argentina.
The festival continues until 16 April with a playbill full of the latest films presented in Italy over the past year. These include "Vermiglio" by Maura Delpero; "Diva Futura" by Giulia Steigerwalt; "Another End" by Piero Messina; "Campo Di Battaglia" by Gianni Amelio; "Famiglia" by Francesco Costabile; "L'orto americano" by Pupi Avati; and "La vita accanto" by Marco Tullio Giordana.
The initiative counts as every year with the support of the Italian Embassy, the Italian Cultural Institute of Buenos Aires, and the Foreign Trade Institute (Ice), as well as the company Cinecittà Spa.
