A memorandum of understanding was signed in Mumbai between the two film schools Istituto Europeo di Design and Whistling Woods International for an Italian-Indian cooperation in the film industry, on the initiative of the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute.
The project was presented during the latest monthly event 'Aperitivo Italiano a Mumbai', in the presence of hundreds of spectators and a panel of 10 million followers.
During the Aperitivo, two short films inspired by "Nuovo Cinema Paradiso", written, shot and edited in three days by students from both schools, were screened; the initiative received the congratulations of Giuseppe Tornatore himself, who recorded a video message for the occasion.
"This is a new chapter in the bilateral collaboration between Italy and India, in a crucial sector for the development of relations in the creative industry of the two countries. The success in terms of audience and the originality of the project have allowed Italian cinematography to gain appreciation and curiosity for the potential of the new relationship inaugurated in the capital of Bollywood," commented Consul General Alessandro De Masi, who in the next few days will conclude his assignment in India for a new destination.
