Oscar-nominated American actor
Viggo Mortensen, who played Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings
trilogy, is one of several stars scheduled for a "close
encounter" meeting with fans at the 11th Rome Film Festival to
take place October 13-23, festival organisers announced
Thursday.
Others scheduled to hold "close encounters" with fans at
this year's festival include Tom Hanks, Meryl Streep, Oliver
Stone, David Mamet, Don DeLillo, Daniel Libeskind, and Lorenzo
Jovanotti Cherubini.
The image chosen to represent this year's film festival is
a photo of Gene Kelly and Cyd Charisse taken by LIFE Magazine
photographer J. R. Eyerman on the set of Singin' in the Rain.
"The chosen image perfectly represents the sense of
elegance and joy that I want to give the festival," said
artistic director Antonio Monda.
