Italian filmmaker Asia Argento on
Thursday said she was "grateful" to the Cannes Film Festival for
selecting her film Incompresa to compete in the special Certain
Regard section.
"I am very grateful to the Cannes Film Festival, which for
22 years has supported my movies and independent, international
cinema in general," said Argento, the 38-year-old daughter of
Italian master of gore Dario Argento.
"Thanks to Cannes such films have the chance to be seen and
exported abroad".
Starring Charlotte Gainsbourg and Gabriel Garko, Incompresa
is competing for a distribution grant at the section that runs
parallel to the Palme d'Or competition at the 67th annual Cannes
festival, May 14-25.
