The 55th Vinitaly wine trade show closed in Verona on Wednesday, registering a 20% increase in foreign buyers over the 2022 edition.
In total, 93,000 buyers attended the international exhibition in the northern city showcasing Italian wines and spirits, of which 29,600 came from abroad and represented 143 countries, accounting for around one third of the accredited attendees.
In addition, Vinitaly clocked up more than 45,000 wine tastings (up 50% over 2022) in the historic center of Verona.
"Today we close a Vinitaly that is now at last in full swing, one that has seen the choral participation of sector representatives, press and institutions," said Veronafiere president Federico Bricolo.
"The investments made for foreign incoming (business) have delivered an initial concrete result for a Vinitaly that we want to be increasingly decisive for exhibitors' business," added Veronafiere CEO Maurizio Danese.
"A new course has begun, but it is certainly not over: Vinitaly will always be a vector for conveying Made in Italy, both here and abroad," he said.
The 2024 edition of Vinitaly will take place from April 14 to 17.
