Premier Giorgia Meloni on Tuesday
called for a new pact in the face of the US tariffs crisis in
talks with Italian business categories that will be most hit by
the announced hikes in trade taxes.
"Strong in our newfound credibility, strong in a budget policy
that has been extremely serious and that we say has not thrown
money out the window, and clearly with this frame of reference,
what I would like to do is submit to the productive categories,
to the world of Made in Italy and to all the employers' and
trade unions, a new pact to make a common front with respect to
the new delicate economic situation that we are facing", Meloni
said during the meetings with the categories on the tariffs.
"Our goal is to use the crisis to make our economic system more
productive and competitive. Let's remember that crises are
always an opportunity. The word crisis, I always remember, comes
from the Greek "krisis" which means choice, decision. The crisis
requires us to establish priorities for choice."
