Sister Paola, a very well known figure
in the world of football and among Lazio fans for her television
appearances as a Biancoceleste fan, has died.
The nun, born Rita D'Auria, was 77 years old.
She passed away in Rome.
She became famous thanks to her appearances on the TV program,
"Quelli che il calcio".
Thanks to her fame, she supported charitable and religious
activities and initiatives, especially through the So.Spe
association, working in particular for young people in
difficulty and prisoners.
Messages of condolence from Lazio fans immediately went viral on
the web.
Lazio itself said:
"S.S. Lazio, led by President Claudio Lotito and Cristina
Mezzaroma, shares with deep emotion the mourning for the passing
of Sister Paola D'Auria, a fervent nun and proud ambassador of
Lazio.
"Her family home gave solidarity and hope (like the name of her
association) to many young people, prisoners, victims of poverty
and violence, single mothers and people wounded by the social
problems of our time.
"Her smile will be missed, but the humanity of her collaborators
in continuing what she created will certainly not cease".
