Emanuela Maccarani was reappointed
national technical director of the Italian rhythmic gymnastics
team Thursday after getting a warp on the knuckles from the
Italian Gymnastics Federation (FGI) for psychologically abusing
some ex-athletes.
FGI President Gherardo Tecchi, after consultation with Italian
Olympic Committee (CONI) chief Giovanni Malagò, announced the
termination of his own role as interim coach and at the same
time informed the federal executive of the reassignment of the
same role to Maccarani, whose trial for alleged psychological
abuse of some former gymnasts ended with a warning from the
FGI's disciplinary body.
