The Federal National Gymnastics Court on Friday gave rhythmic gymnastics national coach Emanuela Maccarani, a slap on the wrist for inflicting punishing training regimens on athletes while acquitting her assistant Olga Tishina.
Maccarani was reprimanded for "adopting training methods that did not comply with the duties of fairness and professionalism by putting psychological pressure and causing in some gymnasts the onset of eating and psychological disorders", after complaints by gymnasts Nina Corradini and Anna Basta.
The judges said she had been affected by "an excess of affection".
The court said it will explain its ruling withing 10 days.
