Italian designer and businessman Nino
Cerruti, one of the fashion's world's lead players in the 20th
century, died in hospital at Vercelli at the age of 91at the
weekend.
A pioneer who hired Giorgio Armani in his early career, Cerruti
was popular with Hollywood stars and his outfits were worn by
A-listers such as Julia Roberts, Robert Redford and Al Pacino.
He founded his own haute couture house, Cerruti 1881, in Paris
and also ran the family textiles business, Lanificio Fratelli
Cerruti.
The Biella-born designer did due to complications that followed
a hip operation.
