Corporate research institute The
Reputation Institute has ranked Nutella chocolate-spread maker
Ferrero as the top Italian company in terms of reputation in its
"Global RepTrack" listings for 2016.
Ferrero is in 18th place in the list, the highest spot for
an Italian company. The next Italian firms to appear are fashion
label Armani, tyre manufacturer Pirelli, pasta maker Barilla and
coffee producer Lavazza.
Overall the top-ranked company is Swiss watch maker Rolex,
followed by U.S. entertainment firm Walt Disney and internet
services provider Google.
The listing, that is traditionally released by Forbes
magazine, is based on consumer surveys in countries including
those within the G8 group of industrialised nations.
German car manufacturer Volkswagen has fallen right out of
the top 100 following last year's scandal over its cheating on
emissions tests.
