Italian-American carmaker Fiat
Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has agreed to pay out over $650
million to settle accusations in the United States that it
cheated on emissions tests, the Associated Press.
The agency said a source told it that FCA will pay $311
million in fines to the federal government and the State of
California in a case regarding 104,00 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs
and Ram pickups produced between 2014 and 2016.
Around $280 million will be paid out to compensate owners,
with around $72 million set to settle claims made by other
states, AP reported.
The carmaker will not admit to any wrongdoing, the agency
said.
